OCD

Its official now. The UGAJ, (United Gang Against Jupe) an exclusive club with restricted membership whose sole founding objective was to study, analyse and then come to outrageously arbit conclusions about Jupe has delivered its finally report. Jupe is suffering. Jupe maybe even dying. From OCD. That's Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Here is a sneak preview of the report before its made public.

Charge no: 1
Obsession: English spelling
Compulsion: If there is even a single instance of the world 'weird' being spelt otherwise, then Jupe marks the owner for further scrutiny, sometimes going as further as using Ctrl F in that page and sieving through all the other contents to see if the offender was just careless or habitual.

I plead guilty ;-)

Charge no: 5
Obsession: Cleanliness
Compulsion: Wherever he dines (even if its at the Taj), Jupe watches carefully to see if the waiter serving him has his fingers sticking into the glass of water, not to mention the water having to be crystal clear.

I plead guilty :-)

Charge no: 7
Obsession: To be different from the crowd
Compulsion: So what if everyone loved a movie, Jupe will find fault with it. If the entire team wants to make a graphic intensive presentation on Power Point, Jupe will insist on a simple chalk and talk. If everybody wants to sit and home and laze on a hot Sunday afternoon, Jupe will insist on a cycling expedition.

I plead not guilty

What a match !!!!

Ronaldinho Magic

I am generally not prone to hyperbole but I havta say that yesterday's match at Stamford Bridge was one of the best matches of footer I have seen in the last 18 years (Yeah, Diego Maradona's WC in 86 was the first time I took a serious interest in the game)...Well worth the alarm at 1 am and staying up till 3:30 am....And if thats not high enough praise then let me just emphasise the point a little more by stating that the first 45 minutes was the best First half action of football ever. 5 goals, end-to-end action and possibly 3 golden chances spurned. At half time the scoreline could well have read Barca 3 Chelsea 5. Tis a real pity that such a wonderful spectacle had to occur early on at a QF stage itself...and worse still that Barca, one of the best attack minded teams I have seen go down. To use a time worn cliche, football was yesterday's biggest winner.

Goal3

Here are some of my observations post-match.

# I am still not very convinced about Jose Mourinho's tactics for yesterday's game. He picked the most attacking side of the season - Cole, Duff, Gudjohnsen, Kezman and Lampard - and then played the sit back and hit on the run game.. Of course, he can show 3 first half goals to his credit but the problem is that when you are defending for most part of the game against a strong attacking side like Barca, you are bound to concede goals. Defending deep and defending as a close unit wont work for long against classy outfits.

# Though Chelsea have been rock solid in their defence in the EPL, their are still question marks over their performance in Europe. Cech was outstanding yesterday and Makelele in my opinion had an off day which meant Carvalho and Terry actually looked vulnerable. I personally think Barca erred by not playing Albertini.

# Though I'd still ove for Chelsea to go the distance in Europe I fear that they won't be able to shut out the Italian teams. Milan and Juve just won't concede which makes them almostimpossible to beat if they take a lead.

Neway the dream run continues and I am not gonna spoil it by doign a post mortem today.

We Won

GO CHELSEA GO.

Madam ke liye kuch bhi karenge

So I've never spoken about politics in any of my blogs in the past, right...and I don't intend to in the future too..But allow me this one time.

I know I swore to a select few that the day "that Italian lady Maino" assumed reins of this country, I'd leave the shores to work in some alien land. Thankfully that didn't happen thanks to the ma'am listened to her 'inner self' and responding to that 'calling' by 'renouncing' the throne she was destined to inherit the day she married into the country's most famous family. Things even seemed positive when the original "Right man in the wrong party" Manmohan Singh was installed as PM but the events of the last few days have only reiterated my stance that the Congress is a party of servile sycophants and senile pensioners. While the whole world seems more obsessed with hurling abuses at Jamir and Syed Razi, seasoned political observers have refused to believe that all this would have occurred without the active consent of the ma'am. After all, no man in the Congress dares to even move a muscle in his body without the fair lady's consent. While none can deny that all this has left a huge question mark on democracy and constituitional propriety, its in a way good that the media has also responded sharply to ensure that something like the reign of terror unleashed by Indira Gandhi in the form of Emergency does not happen again.

Here are some nice articles whcich speak on the same subject.

Marauders of democracy

Stop this nonsense about our great democracy

PS: In the face of all this madness, the 3 Congressmen whom I respect - AK Antony, Digvijay Singh and Manmohan Singh - have take a dignified stance by either not commenting (silence can be so damning sometimes) or condoning the hasty actions of the Governors in Goa and Jharkhand.
